“It was really exciting because I was a huge fan of Spielberg,” Steeler said. “And he would come to see a play that I was in, and he basically cast me in the movie.”

Although the experience included a turbulent moment, the young actor made an unfortunate gag while taking a wide long time.

“About three or four minutes after this shot, and I say my line,” Stiller recalls. “I mean, ‘Hey, kid, would you like a bar in Hershey?’ And I screwed it up, and I said, ‘Hey, kid, do you want a chocolate bar?’ And then I went, ‘Oh, damn. I’m sorry. Cut.’ And then silence. “

He continued, “I can only hear the monitors saying, ‘What?’ [I said] ‘I’m sorry, I made my line worse.’ And then I hear Steven Spielberg say, ‘You never shout!’

Finally, Steeler added, “And of course, my hero, my idol, I realize I’ve done the most embarrassing thing ever. So, it worked well.”

His first role in a 1987 film was played by a young Christian Bell.
