In a statement shared with Sportsnet, Merseyside Police said: “As the players were leaving the pitch at 2:30 pm, it was reported that a boy had been assaulted by an outsider while leaving the pitch. “Investigations are ongoing and officers are currently working with the Everton Football Club to review the CCTV (video) footage and are questioning a wide range of witnesses to ascertain whether any crime has taken place.”
Ronaldo took to Instagram to apologize for his actions.

“Dealing with emotions in difficult moments is not easy,” he wrote. “I apologize for my inconvenience and, if possible, invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sport.”
