“American Idol” contestant Emerson Flora had a breakthrough in Sunday’s reality song contest, which kicked off the voting round.
Flora was part of the first half of the Top 24 who performed in a pre-taped round at Disney Aulani Resort in Hawaii. With the little advice from former “Idol” contestant and country star Jimmy Allen, the 16-year-old singer from Cleveland, Ohio has built enough confidence and given her best performance.

Flora stunned judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan and received a rare standing ovation for the cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Angels Like You”.
Perry praised the young TikTok star’s strong voice and called her “the next American Idol.”
Ritchie was “enchanted” by Flora’s voice and presence on stage, a star told her: “You have a future in this business.”

His “extraordinary” performance was one of Brian’s favorites in the competition so far. He commented on the maturity of his voice, which “pulls everyone.”

Flora, the youngest singer to be eliminated from the competition, is vying for a place in the top 20.
The second edition of Disney Aulani’s Top 24 Performance will resume on Monday night with the suggestion of Babe Rex.
