J. Copeland and Morgan Gruber had an important task ahead for Hollywood Week
The singers were challenged on “American Idol” to play “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from “A Star Is Born”. The problem, however, was that Copeland had never seen the picture and Gruber had difficulty explaining it to him.

Considering Copeland “never got off the song” at rehearsals and “nervous” for the performance, the duo sang their duet to impress judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan.
Perry called the singers “extraordinarily talented” while Brian noted that their talents contain “excessive commitment”.

However, the judges were almost intimidated by Copeland and Gruber when Perry said the judges “needed more” from them.
“In the next round you have to find that next level,” Perry said as they advanced to Showstoppers Week.
Through 8 rounds.
