John Batiste and Suleika Jaud have revealed that they were secretly married

Coming from his big night at Grammys, John Battist has another surprise to share

On Monday morning, the winner of the album of the year “CBS Sunday Morning” appeared, joined by longtime partner Suleika Jaude, revealing that they had recently secretly married.

Jaud explained that they decided to get married after suffering from leukemia for the second time, for which he is currently receiving treatment.

“We got married the day before I was admitted to the hospital for a bone marrow transplant,” said the 33-year-old. “We know we wanted to get married. I think we started dating from the first week.”

Joud joked, “That’s when John first brought up the subject of marriage to me. So, we’ve had eight years. It’s not a hasty decision! “

Despite the time of the proposal, Jaud explained that Batist had another reason to ask her to marry him.

He told me, ‘I just want to be very clear, I’m not proposing to you because of this diagnosis. It took me a year to design your ring. So, just know it has nothing to do with this time. What I want is that the diagnosis doesn’t change anything. It makes it clear to me that I want to promise it and that we want to be together, “he recalls. “But once we realized we had this little window before the bone marrow transplant, we decided to go for it.”

The couple described their wedding as “small” and “perfect” and revealed that they used “bread ties” instead of the usual wedding ring.

“And I’ll tell you, we went to that bone marrow transplant unit in Cloud Nine,” Joud added. “It simply came to our notice then. And I really believe that it has taken us through. “
