Kacey Musgraves has taken ‘a fresh start’ for her Nashville aesthetics

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, 33, made “a fresh start” in a 2012 home after her divorce from fellow singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly.

He bought the house in 2020 as “a big change in life” and, with the help of interior designer Lindsay Rhodes, made choices during the Musgraves renovation and reconstruction that were informed in the best possible way by her separation.

From dark, colorful wallpaper to a blank white canvas, Musgraves was able to “see where he wants to go” with the design.
Much of the house is now painted white or off-white, with a space left untouched by the “Happy and Sad” singer: a powder room featuring charcoal sketches by the late artist Hazel King, which coincidentally complemented her previous residence.

From a photograph of her “bad-ass” mom as a teenager to “magical” thrift shopping, almost everything in a local Texas home tells a story. Musgraves even created a semi-smoking joint that Willie Nelson gave him to “save for another time” when they traveled together in 2014.
