Sitting on a piano, the young singer told fans, “This is a chorus of songs that I wrote a long time ago.”

“I have to find, I have to find something better than what I had, and no strings attached,” he sang. “Am I not worthy of it? There are no strings attached. “

After finishing the chorus, he teased the fans, “That’s what you get.”

Anderson surprised fans on Monday by announcing that he was being dropped from “American Idol” for “personal reasons.”

Before his departure, the young singer was tapped as a pioneer to win the season.

“It was one of the hardest decisions I ever made, but I know it’s necessary,” Anderson wrote on Instagram. “I am grateful to ‘American Idol’, the judges, the producers, the amazing contestants and all those who have supported me.”

He added, “Thank you for giving me such an amazing opportunity to share my voice, pursue my dreams, feel so much joy and happiness in doing what I love, and make lifelong friends along the way.”

On Monday night’s “American Idol”, after Anderson’s performance in Christina Perry’s hit “Human”, host Ryan Seckrest addressed her departure.

“You may have noticed that there was no voting information right now during Kennedy’s performance,” he said. Since we have previously taped these shows in Hawaii, Kennedy has decided to withdraw from our show for personal reasons. We wish him well. “

Anderson’s final performance on the show garnered standing praise from judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
