With 2021 marking the 20th anniversary of the premiere of “24”, could Jack Bauer have another mission left?

Star Kifer Sutherland thinks so, and shares her thoughts on the possibility of resurrecting anti-terror CTU agent Jack Bauer for another adventure.

“I believe the story is unresolved,” Kifer said GQ. “If something is written that makes sense to me and I thought it was going to contribute to the franchise, I will be behind it, even if my participation is limited.”

Sutherland, however, insisted that all elements must be in place before he could return to his most iconic role.

“My involvement will always be guessed at what I understand is the quality of the writing. If [original showrunner] Howard Gordon is inspired to do it, we’ll see what happens, “he continued.

“I missed it. It was an incredible experience,” Sutherland added.

Premiering in the fall of 2021, “24” lasted six seasons before being revived for the limited series “24: Redemption” in 2008, then the series was revived for two more seasons until the show was finally canceled in 2010. Sutherland is back in 2014 for another revival, with the subtitle “Live Anther Day”.

Sutherland did not return for the 2017 spinoff series, “24: Legacy”, where Corey Hawkins played CTU agent Eric Carter; The series was canceled after just one season.

Fox later announced plans for two separate spinoffs – a legal thriller and a prequel to Jack Bauer’s early career – but both were eventually scrapped.
