Molly Shannon talks about her unpleasant experience with Gary Coleman.
Appearing on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” this week, the former “Saturday Night Live” star was invited to the “Different Strokes” star’s hotel room in the late 80’s.
As he explained, he was at the beginning of his career and was looking for his big break at the time, and he bumped into Coleman while meeting with his agent Mark Randall.
“I was a virgin, so I didn’t even think about it,” she said. “She was holding my hand, and I was like, ‘She’s so pretty!’ He had a suit on. “

Once up in his hotel room, though, he thought Randall was missing, leaving him alone with Coleman, who took him to his bed.
Calling the actor “relentless,” Shannon said, “He was trying to kiss me and wanted to get on top of me, and I was like, ‘Gary, stop.’ So I want to push him away. Then I get out of bed, then he jumps on the bed – jumps, jumps, jumps – and wraps himself around me, then I throw him, then he gets on top of me. I was like, ‘Gary, stop!’ But I guess I didn’t feel threatened by his size. “
He was able to get out of the bedroom, thinking “I go to the bathroom, and then he grabs my leg … I had to kick him. Then I locked myself in the bathroom and then he put his hand under the door and said, ‘I see you. Get it! ‘
“How did you get out of the room?” Stern asked.
“I just ran out. I think I was probably very polite, “he said, adding that he had asked the agent to monitor his client’s behavior. “If only I could stand up for myself.”
Also on the show, Stern asked Shannon about the arrival of her favorite celebrity guests from her time on “SNL”.
Quoting Jim Carrey, the comedian said, “When he came to SNL, what a strength. He just improved everything. He’s like a powerhouse … he’s incredible.”
Shannon Whitney cites Houston as another favorite.
“Whitney was so beautiful,” he said, and then he recalled how he persuaded the late singer to sketch others on his Mary Catherine Gallagher show that he wouldn’t. “I just told Whitney, ‘Look, I’m going to play a Catholic school girl, you’re going to be a dirty girl করুন do whatever you want. You just have to be kind, you know, Snooty, push in front of me, me-out-song. You can say whatever you want. ”
He added, “He had a lot of fun and … he had such a good sense of humor.”

In another moment of the interview, Shannon discusses her iconic “superstar” character from “SNL” and the next feature film and how the character almost couldn’t make it to the show.
Recalling a story from her childhood, Shannon shared how she once boarded a plane and flew to New York as a child.
