Sean Penn’s outspoken support for Ukraine continues in a brand new interview in which the Oscar-winning actor reveals that he feels “taking up arms against Russia.”

As part of an interview with the newly launched publication Hollywood authentic, Penn was asked about his plans to return to the country where he had previously filmed a Ukrainian documentary with Vice Studios when the war with Russia began. Together with his Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) nonprofit, Penn has promised to help Ukrainians flee the country, but admits he is “not a fool” when it comes to what he can personally help himself.

“I do not spend much time texting the president or his staff when they are under siege and their people are being killed. I will probably send a message through the Chief of Staff, “he said.

Admitting that he was “fascinated by the conflict” but anti-war, Penn said “the only possible reason” that he could spend more time on Ukrainian soil is to stand by civilian fighters.

“So, I can’t do where I am in life, but if you live in Ukraine [fighting] You have to cross your mind, ”he reflected. “And what kind of century do you think it is? Because I was at the gas station in Brentwood the other day and now I’m thinking of taking up arms against Russia? What’s going on? “

Penn recently dropped his differences with Shawn Hannity for appearing on Fox News to discuss the war in Ukraine.

“It is clear to me that the Ukrainians will win. The question is, at what cost? ” He mused.
