Jarrod Carmichael made his hosting debut this weekend on “Saturday Night Live” and used his monologue to address the house elephant – the Will Smith / Chris Rock Oscar slap, and the endless social conversation that came out of it.
And, to show how endless the controversy and controversy was, he didn’t need to name Smith or Rock, not once.
“I’m not going to talk about it. I want to be clear on top. I talked enough about it. Talk about rubbing salt in my wounds – d’oh! I kept thinking about it. I don’t want to talk about it. And you can’t talk to me about it. But, I have a question: Do you want to talk about it? Sick as you talk about it? Isn’t it crazy – we’ve been talking about it for so long, “Carmichael said shortly after introducing himself.
“It’s really going to blow your mind. Can you believe it’s been six days? Six days! It happened a week ago,” he added, with a burst of laughter. “Doesn’t that look like a year ago? Don’t you think so when we were in high school? It seems to have happened between Jamirukai and 9/11. Many, many days ago. It happened on Sunday. Sunday! Today is Saturday brother.
“It simply came to our notice then. I’m not going to lie. If it were Monday, you wouldn’t be able to keep me quiet about it, “he recalled.” Tuesday, still talking about it. A little less exciting because it stopped being about Tuesday. It started to be about a lot of proxy arguments. By … I wanted to commit suicide by Wednesday. “
“But on Friday, on Friday, I took an oath to myself. I promised myself I would never talk about it again, “Carmichael.” [Michaels] Came to my dressing room. He said, ‘I think you need to talk about it.’ “The nation needs to be healed,” he said.

Carmichael addressed another thing when many fans thought he would be hosting the first announcement.
“The nation doesn’t even know me! The nation has no idea who I am, “Carmichael quipped.” The nation has no idea who I am. I have to be the least famous host in SNL history. For example, at least. “
Carmichael is hosting this week the promotion of his new HBO comedy special, “Rothaniel”, where he first appeared in public as a homosexual. When he addressed his personal news, it received a round of applause from the audience, which he said was the “expected response” from New Yorkers.
“It simply came to our notice then. If you say you’re gay in New York, you can get on the bus for free and people just give you pizza, “he said. “Honestly, if you’re gay in New York, you can host ‘Saturday Night Live.'”
“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturday at 11:30 pm ET / 8: 30 pm PT Global.
