Despite attempts to block the production of the real-life Leiden series, “Pistol” will feature the band’s original music. Leiden, annoyed that he had not been hired as a “consultant,” tried to block the use of sex pistol music. Instead, Jones and Cook sued, with Matlock and Sid Vesius agreeing to license the estate’s music. A judge has ruled that the existing 1998 Sex Pistol Band Membership Agreement (BMA) approved “majority voting rules” and Leiden was out of luck.
