* Warning: spoiler up front!

Last week’s surviving contestants returned to the stage on Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer,” and after four costume characters performed their memorable performances, fans had to say goodbye to one of them.

Hydra, Ringmaster, Armadillo and Teddy took to the stage to belt their hearts out. After all four sang, fans voted and the two vote-winners below had to face off on another vocal showdown.

Despite Armadillo’s lively performances in The Bobby Fuller Four’s “I Fight the Law” and Hydra’s funny cover of ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man”, they were confronted at a music showdown and got the Hydra ax.

Before unmasking the show, a panel of celebrity “detectives” – including Robin Thick, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jiang and Jenny McCarthy, as well as guest panelist Nicole Bayer – made their final guess.

Although all the judges correctly predicted that Hydra was actually a pair and not a trio, despite having three heads, only Bayer was able to properly put the clues together.

After figuring out how to unmask, the pair revealed themselves to be none other than the magician Penn & Taylor!

The ET spoke to Taylor about her time with Taylor on the show and reflected how the costume itself was somewhat magical misdirection to keep famous celebrities and TV personalities secret.

“If you are looking for a show-business pair, we first pop up on Google. We knew that if we were two people we would be destroyed very quickly, and we knew we couldn’t get one outfit for one person, so the three of us had a really good solution, “Penn shared.

He added that most of the work on trying to keep the panel on their toes came from Taylor, who changed his voice to sing in two different voices.

“We knew that my voice was so damaged by Carney Trash that I had no choice. I can sound like that, and there’s no other way, “said Penn.” So our real star was Taylor.

After all, Penn said the experience of being on the show was truly wonderful and he expressed his gratitude for what the show represented.

“I’ve been on a lot of shows, a lot, a lot of shows that I don’t like, I’m not particularly proud of, but it’s a really kind show,” he shared. “We have come to be a culture, in our entertainment, that really seems to enjoy cruelty. And I don’t think it’s healthy and I don’t think it’s enjoyable. “

“But this show is a celebration of life, a celebration of show business, and everyone who works on this show is very happy. It’s just awesome,” he added. “This show is the best of our culture, and we’ve seen our culture in its worst.”

Although Armadillo is clearly on thin ice, the only contestant in this group that really seems to be determined to reach the final is the ringmaster, who impressed the judges with his performance in Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bus”.

Meanwhile, Teddy closes the first round of the night’s competition with an unexpectedly proud performance of Demi Lovato’s “Tell Me You Love Me”.

“The Masked Singer” airs on Fox Wednesday night at 8 pm ET / PT.
